Three solid songs from one remarkably different Boston-based rock band makes for one fancy ep that we only want more from! This killer quartet mixes coed vocals with a Doors and X like drive that is reminiscent of old school rock-n-roll with a cool, culty edge that could easily fit into the current Mod Rock/Alternative and College radio lineup, raising eyebrows upon the first spin. “Sound Of Survival,” and its spooky, minor triad filled chorus reminds me of the ultimate in ’B Rate’ film music with a weird yet unforgettable melody that leaves your toes tapping with angelic swooping throughout. “Bueno Sera Sara” mixes a Credence Clearwater Revival like flair with the popular uniqueness of X for the same unmistakable, head-shaking drive that begs you to play air guitar and sing along. The third and final track, “Moscow Nights,” from this all-too-short cd mixes a stressfully fast guitar and drum beat with a strangely seductive spoken word story for one awesome, cult-classic-like record that is just too cool! If you're in the mood to step slightly from the atypical guitar driven quarter, Fin de Siecle will have you bobbing your head and yearning for more! Lyrically deep and melodically addictive this band knows how to rock period! [Scott Ferguson, sferguson@fen.com]
