FIN DE SIECLE: Plan 3/Pistachio [7” 45 from Stanton Park Records,

This record was recorded in 1984 and released this year. It could have been recorded
in 1966 and released then. The organ, the swirling guitar, the psychedelic vocals,
even the lettering on the cover will remind you of an earlier time that you may or
may not have lived through. This is not the psychedelia of the US garage bands,
though. It is closer to the psychedelia of the early phase of Britpsych bands-- the
ones whose members wind up in the looney bin. The B-side is an added touch of
authenticity-- a pure psychedelic tune, without vocals. Perfect for a B-side that
knows what a B-side is supposed to do.
